Kapiti introduces Alcohol-free zones
Kapiti Council has introduced a number of liquor bans around the Kapiti Coast to "keep our community safe and ensure people drink alcohol responsibly."
Council says this will reduce the risk of alcohol-related offending in public places, such as beaches, rivers, streets and parks.
"Police will use their discretionary powers, so won't be targeting people having a quiet wine or beer by the beach.
"But they can confiscate alcohol from those misusing it or causing people and/or property harm. Offenders can also be arrested."
The latest liquor ban applies to all public places from Paekākāriki to Waikanae (9pm to 6am, every day) until 27 May 2013.
Other bans are in place around the district, as follows:
Waikanae Park skateboard area & wrestling club carpark (24 hours, all year)
