Kapiti Vote 19 - Shelly Warwick is a candidate for the Otaki Ward in the Kapiti elections.
Shelly Warwick is a candidate for the Otaki Ward councillor position at Kapiti Council.
"I am Otaki born and bred, a mother of 4, and a registered nurse. I believe Otaki is a special place and the people who live here make it a special community.
I have been involved in many committees and Road safety campaigns in Otaki, achieving great results, including improved road safety outcomes for our children, safe East/West connections across SH1 and rural road safety improvements.
Currently a member of the Otaki Community board, I feel Otaki needs a strong, loyal voice around the council table. We also need positive and pro-active communication with other our own council, other neighbouring councils and DHB's to ensure our community and its needs are not overlooked.
We have challenging cross boundary issues in the Otaki Ward that need to be addressed.
The building of the PP2O has bought opportunities and challenges to Otaki. I have advocated through this construction process for Road safety considerations and connections such as the Shared path, and I will continue to do so having already engaged with our Northern neighbouring council to talk connections for the next stage of the expressway.
I am currently on the Otaki Community board, KCDC's Operations and Finance committee, Cycleway, Walkway and Bridleway committee, and Road Safety committee. I am Chair of Kapiti Equestrian Advocacy group and on the Otaki College Board of Trustees. I am also standing for MidCentral DHB.
I believe I am the best person to represent the Otaki Ward around KCDC's table."
