Louise and Dean Compton say an inspiration behind starting their Kapiti business Aston Road Villa Bed and Breakfast is they love travel and meeting like-minded people.
"Our extensive overseas travel has targeted non touristy places and we like to stay in family run boutique accommodation. As a result of these experiences we have built a new home that incorporates a purpose-built guest wing where we can host and share travel experiences with fellow travelers," says Louise Compton.
"We named our home Aston Road Villa. The term Villa originated from an ancient Roman luxurious country residence. We both enjoy visiting Roman ruins in different places around the world. We always like to meet locals when we travel, enjoying their hospitality and wanted to replicate this."
Louise says they enjoy welcoming guests into their home and want them to feel like it is their 'home away from home'.
"Our bed and breakfast is ideally situated for activities on the Kapiti Coast as well as travelers can relax, chill out and recharge for a few days enjoying the quiet rural setting.
"Access to the guest wing is via a private courtyard with comfortable outdoor furniture. This is an enjoyable place to sit and enjoy the birdsong and serene native bush at the rear of the property."
Out from the main guest bedroom is a patio that allows guests to enjoy the tranquil rural views, including watching the sunset on Kapiti Island.
Louise says protecting the environment is important to them and they are sustainable wherever possible.
"We have invested in top quality beds and linen and also provide a delicious gourmet breakfast featuring local produce and barista style coffee."
