Nathan Guy welcomes further USB rollout in Kapiti.
Otaki MP Nathan Guy is welcoming a major extension of Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) into new areas across Kapiti and Horowhenua announced by the Government.
"This is great news for our region and people living in smaller areas. The rollout of UFB into areas like Paraparaumu and Levin has been very popular and successful and now the coverage will be extended even further," says Mr Guy.
The new areas in Kapiti to be covered include:
Otaihanga / Nikau Valley
"Fast and reliable internet is becoming essential in the 21st century. It allows people and business to connect with each other and the rest of the world, and will be another real boost to our region.
"This is part of the Government's new $270 million investment to complete the entire UFB network by the end of 2022 and extend rural and mobile coverage to regional New Zealand," says Mr Guy.
"As part of this, world-class broadband will be rolled out to an additional 190 towns and 46 fringe areas across the country.
"Overall this is one of the biggest infrastructure projects ever undertaken in New Zealand with more than $2 billion to provide access to world-class broadband by the end of 2022."
Mr Guy says the Government is also investing up to $140 million to extend the Rural Broadband Initiative across the country and to provide mobile coverage through in the Mobile Black Spot Fund to around 1000 kilometres of state highways and more than 100 tourist areas.
