The Age Friendly Reference group established by Kāpiti Council held a four-hour workshop to look at Age Friendly issues at the international, national and local levels.
In order to assist in developing a strategy for the Kāpiti community, KCDC has employed Studio C Design, who have done similar work for a number of central and local government agencies and private organisations.
A great deal of information was generated about housing, transport, employment and social isolation. Studio C Design will develop all the information into a readable, concise form which can be used to develop a plan. Progress has been slow due to the pandemic, but we are moving forward and hopefully will have a strategy for Council within a few months.
Once the strategy has been developed another group will be formed to implement it. This will need to include other agencies and organisations, such as health, transport and housing.
