The Kāpiti Chamber of Commerce supports in principle the raising of the $70,000 to fund a full business case as the first stage of the Whale Song idea.
“On the face of it, it’s a very exciting idea” says Chairperson Mark Ternent “and even though Kāpiti has many other major projects currently planned or in progress, it deserves to get to the stage of having a full business case developed or we run the risk of missing a unique opportunity”.
From there, the idea can be tested properly and if investors can be found and all the other hurdles cleared, then it will bring money and jobs into the area on a long term, sustainable basis. “Whale Song, with its information centre and amphitheatre may have the potential to become something permanent and iconic that adds to the great Kāpiti lifestyle.”
