Theatre Impresarios Take Role at Kāpiti Playhouse

Successful theatre impresarios, Stewart and Tricia Macpherson are the new joint patrons for the Kāpiti Playhouse.

Based in Waikanae, the Macphersons’ Stetson group is among the most successful developers and managers of a variety of touring theatre productions, not just in New Zealand but also overseas.

Currently they are touring The Manhattan Transfer and Oh What a Night.

Interim President of Kāpiti Playhouse, Liz Alpine, says the theatre is fortunate and delighted to have Stewart and Tricia take this prominent role and their support, coupled with knowledge and skills, will be of great benefit to the local theatre.

The couple have earned their world-wide reputation through the significance of the acts they have toured. In buying from overseas, they travel to see the performance and meet the performers before committing to a tour.

Stewart has a diverse background; best known for his radio and television work in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. He was the host of the first ever pop music show in the early days of television in this country.

Tricia also has a radio background as an audio technician in Wellington and then with DECCA Record’s studios in London. She has a great eye for detail.

Stewart and Tricia Macpherson expect to be in the audience for one of the Kāpiti Playhouse performances of Brilliant Lives to be staged from 3 to 13 April.
