Over the last three weeks the Paraparaumu College Girl Up group have collected handbags and products, and run a bake sale to raise money to be spent on contents for the handbags. Today, the group and their staff-leads Kate Cormack and Anita Titter, donated 14 well-stocked handbags to Kamni Raju-Russell, the regional facilitator of the Love Grace appeal.

The group’s core purpose is to improve the lives of women and girls in the local community. They were attracted to the Love Grace handbag appeal and the ability to empower women in domestic abuse situations. Their bags will now be donated to the Kāpiti Women’s Refuge.

The Girl Up group extended their thanks to the students, staff and wider community who donated items to the appeal.

Kamni Raju-Russell says the Appeal closes officially tomorrow (March 8). “We will be happy to receive any further donations to this very worthwhile cause.

“The handbags and contents will be delivered to the Kāpiti Women’s Centre and they will be distributed to women in need.”

Further donations to the Love Grace Appeal can be made at the Copperfield Collective, 17 Seaview Rd, Paraparaumu Beach.
