A fundraising concert at Southwards Theatre, Paraparaumu at 7pm on Sunday 24 May features a fascinating range of performers, all lining up to honour Kāpiti’s own internationally famous dancer Sir Jon Trimmer, who passed away late last year.

This high quality fundraising concert will feature a fascinating range of performers from Ray Woolf, Andrew London, Sam Manzana, Paraparaumu College guitarist Joel Mitchison, the local Sweet Studios Dance School, singers from Paraparaumu College and dancers from the New Zealand School of Dance.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Nikau Foundation’s Sir Jon Trimmer Scholarship Fund, which will offer transformative opportunities for local Kāpiti performing and visual arts practitioners long into the future. Facilitated by the Creative Kāpiti Trust, these scholarships will ensure that Sir Jon’s generosity, inspiration and encouragement for other performing and visual artists will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Creative Kāpiti trustee Liz Koh says by establishing the Sir Jon Trimmer Scholarship Fund with the Nikau Foundation, the Creative Kāpiti Trust is ensuring Sir Jon’s memory lives on. Ms Koh says Sir Jon’s passion for both performing and visual arts continues to be felt, and he will continue to inspire new generations of artists long into the future.

Longtime friend of Sir Jon ex-KCDC Deputy Mayor Roger Booth, current Mayor Janet Holborow, and Music Director Merrick Stein have gathered together a great set of musical and dance performers for the May 24 event.
