MC Michael Macaulay will introduce five Wellington based comedians on the Kāpiti Coast for an evening of laughter. After two sold out comedy events in Kāpiti the July 27 gig at the Kāpiti Boating Club is again expected to be very popular.
Michael Macaulay first started in comedy around the turn of the millennium, working in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and beyond. He has produced and starred in numerous comedy festival shows and has won awards from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Wellies and more besides. He has also been nominated three years in a row for the Welly Best MC award.
Severin Gourley, often described as ‘the young gun of the Wellington comedy scene’, delights audiences with quirky observations and cleverly crafted punch lines. A veteran of the Wellington Fringe Festival, having performed in the show Three Course Comedy for three years, and his own solo show Hey it’s the Awkward Guy. Severin has also performed internationally on such shows as Get on the Mic! in Toshima and Live English Standup Comedy in Asakusabashi. In 2019 he was awarded Best Male Comedian at the Cartel Comedy Awards.
Oliver Pol has been doing comedy for a couple of years as a means of expressing aloud his existential terrors without ruining weddings/birthdays/funerals … also making observations about luncheon sausage.
Sam Howard is, apologetically, Christchurch born and raised. A comedian with self-deprecating humour and absurdist premises, Sam will make your stomach hurt – one way or another.
Lorraine Hamilton is a voracious tea drinker, cake addict and still isn’t over the cancellation of the sci-fi space cowboy series ‘Firefly’. She joined NZ Comedy School in August 2022 adamant that she didn’t want to perform comedy… …only to learn the theory. Ahem! Several sold out gigs later and she’s hooked.
Nathan Green picked up the microphone after putting down a lifelong love affair with the bottle and its various companions. He explores his (mis?)spent youth and mocks his fellow cis-gendered white males. He hopes you’ll find a little bit of love for him and his ongoing struggle to check his unearned privilege.
