In a classic ‘should have called Specsavers’ moment motorists approaching the Waikanae rail bridge have been wondering what Waka Kotahi were thinking with what seems a badly misaligned crossing area.
The right hand side heading north seems aligned as expected but the left side is out of line and already plenty of tyre marks show the hazard it is to motorists with several reporting the need to veer left to miss it.
In time locals may get used to to this ‘chicane’ but trucks and people new to the road are likely to find it can be dangerous, and needs realigning.
