The Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce re-elected their board at this week’s AGM, including successful Co-Chairs Monique Leith and Heather Hutchings who look to build on the momentum gained in 2022 to progress support for the business community.
This will be Monique’s third consecutive year as the Chamber’s elected Co-Chair. She is a Consultant Resource Management Planner and a full member of the NZ Planning Institute. She co-founded Leith Consulting in 2019 – an environmental planning and land surveying consultancy which has since grown to a team of 10. Working closely with local government clients and mana whenua, she has a proven track record in guiding complex and large-scale land development projects through resource management processes. Monique is hard of hearing which has, in turn, threaded an inclusive and accessible culture into the Chamber and Board table. She is also a Trustee for Work Ready Kāpiti.
Heather Hutchings was Co-Chair in 2022, and has former Chamber Chair and Secretary experience which brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. She is a sought-after business mentor, trainer and facilitator who works with and supports general managers, CEO’s, senior leaders and professional businesswomen to manage their work and increase their productivity around their energy levels. She is also the Business Mentor for the Kāpiti Horowhenua Business Awards, and a member of the Business Kāpiti Horowhenua Board for the Electra Business Awards.
Other re-elected board members for 2023 are Deputy Chair Bede Laracy, Treasurer Lisa-Jean Foote, and Secretary Olivia Bird.
The re-appointment of all elected Board positions confirms overall satisfaction with the performance and operations of Chamber.
Co-Chair Heather Hutchings says they are looking forward to an active 2023, co-opting members onto the Board and sub-committees.
“Our role at the Chamber is centred around promoting, supporting, and encouraging sustainable, profitable business growth. We can achieve this by building on the advocacy, advice, information, and support we provide to positively influence the environment our local businesses operate in.”
