Outstanding German pianist Michael Endres, winner of numerous international awards and competitions, professor at leading European colleges, and acclaimed recording artist, returns by popular demand to perform for the Waikanae Music Society.
Last year his brilliant Waikanae performance was awarded with two standing ovations, one at the interval and another at the end, so his return visit is very eagerly anticipated. Endres, who has made his home in New Zealand, has a special affinity with the music of the Romantic era and in particular Schubert. He has won the International Schubert Competition and is reputed to be “one of the world’s leading Schubert interpreters”. For his Waikanae concert he will be playing some Schubert, as well as music by Liszt (Rhapsodie Espagnole – Spanish Rhapsody) and Schumann’s Kreisleriana, a set of eight technically demanding and very beautiful fantasies.
Door sales are available, or tickets can be bought from Waikanae New World and Moby Dickens Books in Paraparaumu Beach.
The concert is at the Waikanae Memorial Hall at 2.30pm, Sunday 18 September.
