Kāpiti deputy-mayor Janet Holborow says she is ready to step up for the mayoralty in the October election.
“With fifteen years’ experience under my belt, I am ready to serve Kāpiti as your next Mayor, as we unlock the huge potential of our district. We have major challenges ahead – climate change, growth and changes in our democratic system to name a few. I look forward to sharing my vision for the future and policies on this page and hearing your ideas and thoughts over the coming months.”
As well as serving two terms as Deputy Mayor Ms Holborow has been a district councillor for nine years and served a further six years on the Paekākāriki Community Board.
She has lived on the Kāpiti Coast for sixteen years and apart from council she has been a long-standing member of Local Government’s National Policy Advisory Group. Ms Holborow has also served five years serving on the Electra Trust Board, years on the Mahara Gallery Trust Board and is a qualified RMA Commissioner Chair. She will be standing as an Independent with Endorsement from the Labour Party.
Current Kāpiti mayor K. Gurunathan (Guru) says he is stepping down from the role to spend more time with his family.
Other confirmed mayoral candidates are current councillor Rob McCann and Waikanae lawyer Chris Mitchell.
