Shane and Sharon Pirie – A good news story for Kāpiti.
In a world full of bad news stories it is great to discover there are some very good news stories out there as well.
One story from Kāpiti comes to mind when locals Shane and Sharon Pirie and business partner David Walsh decided they would do what they could do to help out some of those struggling with the post Covid reality.
Shane, Sharon and David decided to donate a free Lounge, Dining and Hall Deep Carpet Clean to two people each week for eight weeks.
“This was our way of giving back to our community in a practical way,” says Sharon, who manages the office at Maxi Carpet Services.
“The response and the feedback have been incredible. Giving what you can is vital to our thinking. We put out a call for people to nominate someone they know who has been affected by Covid19, financially, physically or needed a pick me up in these uncertain times.
“People were so generous and caring it was lovely. One person who had been nominated and won then gifted it to someone else they thought was in greater need. It was amazing,” says Sharon.
“We know a lot of people are digging deep at the moment and a lot of people are struggling and this is one way we could help out over the last eight weeks.”
The final two winners have just been announced and will be in for some excellent goodwill this week.
