Kāpiti Jazz group Look Both Ways perform for residents of Sevenoaks.
While the rest of the country is getting back into its ‘new’ normal, life in residential aged care remains much as it has been with restrictions still in place.
Residents in The Lodge (the Kāpiti Retirement Trust’s aged care hospital at Sevenoaks) remain as vulnerable as ever to any possible community transmission of COVID-19. However, to quote ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’, today saw the first of the new way of creative concerts for residents.
A local boy band jazz quartet Look Both Ways – entertained in style from the Lodge garden to a very appreciative audience of residents seated in the Lodge dining room and in their rooms which open out to the extensive garden. They played many of the old jazz classics from the ‘Jazz Age’. The wide smiles and toe tapping from residents mean there will be more in the future. Well done to this talented group of young Kāpiti musicians and thanks for giving up your Saturday afternoon. You brought happiness and joy to some of our most vulnerable citizens.
