The Annual Waikanae Spring Market gets underway tomorrow with a wide variety of stalls for all to enjoy and big crowds are expected again this year.
One novel stall will be the reusable jute bags on sale as a fundraiser for Child Cancer with all proceeds going to the charity with all costs met by six local sponsors.
Ross Vessey of Professionals says the whole project came together very quickly.
“I have been involved with charity auctions and other fundraisers for Child Cancer and this seemed like a good opportunity to also involve some Waikanae businesses in such a good cause.
“The bags are only $3 each or two for $5 and the total raised will be going to Child Cancer. When I approached the other sponsors they joined without hesitation,” says Mr Vessey.
The jute bags carry the message “Keep Waikanae Clean” and with supermarkets ditching plastic bags they should be in demand.
Local Businesses supporting the Child Cancer fundraiser are: Professionals, Presentation Covers, Shaft Automotive, Steve Rose Electrical, Kāpiti Hearing, and Signcraft Kāpiti.
The Waikanae Spring Market will be held in Mahara Place from 9am, Saturday 20 October.
