Welcome to October 2018, daylight saving has arrived, and Christmas is now just around the corner.
I would like to congratulate all those businesses who stepped outside of their comfort zone and entered the Electra Business Awards. A total of 86 Businesses have entered across all categories (including the Customer Choice Awards).
Our businesses play a crucial role in helping the Kāpiti and Horowhenua regions thrive and grow. This year the Awards have shone a light on the important role our businesses play in giving to the communities in which they operate, either financially or other in-kind support. We are privileged to be part of such an inclusive group that contributes freely to the wider wellbeing of Kāpiti and Horowhenua.
Award winners will be announced at the annual awards dinner in Levin next Friday 12 October. Good luck!
Kāpiti Youth Employment Foundation Trust
The Chamber is a trustee of the Kāpiti Youth Employment Foundation Trust, which will be soon be celebrating its first full year supporting young people in our region into employment. The Work Ready Kāpiti team are inviting local employers, jobseekers, and college staff and all interested parties to join their inaugural awards function at Whitireia Kāpiti Campus on the 21st of November at 5:30pm.
The evening will highlight the achievements of the young people who have been awarded the Work Ready Passport, or who have impressed the interviewers in our #employer-meet events, as well as the amazing contribution by local employers and Kāpiti, Paraparaumu and Ōtaki colleges. Please come along and celebrate our first year of success.
Wishing you a prosperous October.
