Ōtaki Broadband rollout
“Work on supplying Ultra Fast Broadband to Ōtaki is well underway and the build is on track to be completed in the next few months.
Chorus recently updated me on the progress of the Ōtaki build and it seems that everything is tracking along nicely. Its build is divided into 18 different areas, 12 of them in which the build has already started, and 7 already completed. If you’re in these areas you can expect a letter from Chorus informing you of when and how you can connect to the lightning fast speeds.
This follows Levin being completed in July last year, providing an extra 8507 households and businesses with fast and reliable broadband. Approximately 66% of Kāpiti has also been covered, with the whole area expected to be wrapped up by 2019.
The UFB rollout is an enormous infrastructure project and it’s great to see it making progress all over our region, although I know some of you are still experiencing difficulties in getting a connection.
Access to fast internet, combined with the progress being made with Transmission Gully and the Expressways will be a major drawcard for everyone who can enjoy the lifestyle provided by Horowhenua Kāpiti, whilst being better connected. And as the rural broadband continues its progress throughout our region, it will help businesses connect to the world, reduce IT costs and improve business resilience.
Broadband is another exciting development that I’m proud to have supported and lobbied for in Government.”
