A Kāpiti woman had an unwelcome to the new year when stopped and breath tested at Raumati Beach.
Police posted the reading of the driver when showed she was more than five-times the drink-drive limit.
Police say the woman in her 50s, was stopped at Raumati Beach at 7.20am on Monday January 1 and had a breath-alcohol reading of 1417 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath (mcg).
The legal limit for a drivers 20 years or older is 250mcg.
Police continue to be outraged at the dangers posed by drunk drivers and sent the message ‘How dare you put other innocent road users at risk.

The woman will appear in Porirua District Court in mid-January and her licence was automatically suspended for 28 days.
