The DB Environment Trust, based in Ōtaki, supports students and landowners undertaking projects that increase the understanding of environmental problems and promote solutions.
Spokesperson Di Buchan says she is organsing a sale of second hand books at the Ōtaki War Memorial Hall on 5 January. The sale is to raise funds for the DB Environment Trust.
Ms Buchan says in developing the purposes of the Trust her focus was on raising awareness about what is causing environmental damage and how best to fix that. To this end the Trustees particularly want to work with landowners.
She says they also want to work with students, especially those from low-decile schools, and with poorly resourced communities who might otherwise struggle to access the funding, knowledge and networks, to undertake projects aimed at environmental restoration.
The sale will open at 10am and close at 4pm and books will range in price from 50 cents to $10.
