A statement issued by Police has confirmed the body of a 24-year-old man was pulled from a river late this afternoon.
A 24-year-old man was pulled from the water, but despite CPR being administered he was unable to be revived.
Emergency services had been called to the river at Awapuni, near the racecourse, just after 2pm.
No other details are currently available.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
