The new Waikanae Community Support Centre are having their preliminary opening this Tuesday (Dec 12) between 10.00am and 2pm.
Chairperson Iride McCloy says this community group is very proactive and passionate about assisting people who have a concern in Waikanae.
“There is will an official opening in February, however, we believed that if the office was open one or two days a week in the interim, and if we are able to assist some people in our community with a need over the festive season great.”
Mrs McCloy says this is also an opportunity to reach out for people in our community who are happy to assist at the community support centre or become volunteers.
“Since the closure of the Police Station, we believe there is an urgency within our Waikanae Community to have a centrally located facility for our community to visit if they require information or assistance. The group will work collaboratively with other organisations in Kāpiti, ensuring that as a collective we can address issues which arise in people’s lives,” says Mrs McCloy.
