Paraparaumu College principal Gregor Fountain has resigned to become principal of Wellington College from term two next year.
Mr Fountain says he is proud of the achievements as Paraparaumu College in his five years as principal.
In appointing him to the role Wellington College say Mr Fountain is an inspiring, inclusive and forward-thinking educational leader. “Since he became Principal at Paraparaumu College, the College has made significant gains in achievement in both NCEA and Scholarship pass rates. Its NCEA Level 2 pass rates in 2016 were the best in the College’s history.”
Mr Fountain says it was a tough decision but he will be very familiar with his new school at which he was a former student.
Mr Fountains says he had five years at Wellington College as a student and 10 years on the staff, with four of those years as deputy principal to longstanding principal Roger Moses.
Mr Fountain says he would deeply miss the students, staff and families of Paraparaumu College.
He says the Paraparaumu College board would start the process of appointing a new principal soon and were very confident, with the school in such fine heart, that they will attract a strong field of educational leaders from throughout New Zealand.
