Two men have appeared in court today in relation to a violent incident in Paraparaumu, last night.
A 22 year old man appeared in Porirua District Court on a charge of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded in custody is due to reappear in Porirua on November 17.
A 38 year old man appeared in Wellington District Court on assault-related charges and one of unlawful sexual connection.
He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Wellington tomorrow, November 10.
The arrests follow incidents at two houses from Wednesday night, one a house on Rimu Rd and one on nearby Manawa Ave. Both properties were cordoned off by police on today.
Both streets were swamped with police, ambulance and fire services about 9pm on Wednesday, and earlier in the evening residents reported hearing horrifying noises coming from the Rimu Rd house.
One resident said a man could be heard screaming for help as he ran down Manawa Ave about 8.30pm.
Witnesses say there was a huge police presence last night. They say police were everywhere and they been door-knocking this morning as well.
A Rimu Rd resident said about a dozen police cars, as well as a dog handler and an ambulance, were seen outside the Rimu Rd house about 9pm.
Arguments could be heard at the house earlier. The witness says there are quite a few fights over there, it gets quite loud.
Another Rimu Rd resident reported hearing horrifying noises coming from the house between 7pm and 8pm. Men and women were shouting, and what sounded like furniture being smashed could be heard.
Police says enquiries into the incident last night are ongoing.
