The waiting is finally over and Winston Peters has announced the party he is prepared to go in to coalition with Labour.
Jacinda Ardern is New Zealand’s newest Prime Minister.
The combined MPs of Labour, Green Party and New Zealand First is 63 with National on 56.
Changes locally are Ōtaki MP Nathan Guy who was MPI Minister will now be a member of the opposition.
Ōtaki Labour candidate Rob McCann says this is truly a day to celebrate and Jacinda will be an exceptional Prime Minister.
“The process has been a long one but the ultimate result has been worth waiting for. New Zealand now has a strong and caring government,” says Mr McCann.
Kris Faafoi, Labour MP for Mana, and Mana based Green List MP Jan Logie are now Government MPs.
Ministerial positions will be announced shortly.
