Students from Raumati South School have been crowned Junior team champions in the annual School Mastermind Competition, while a group from Paekākāariki School has taken the honours in the Senior team category.
The final of the School Mastermind Competition, which is run by Kāpiti Coast District Libraries, was held on Friday 11 August at Our Lady of Kāpiti School, following a week in which participants were required to read 15 books and answer over 180 questions.
“We want to acknowledge all participants for the incredible energy, enthusiasm and expertise they each demonstrated throughout the competition,” said Kat Cuttriss, Kāpiti Coast District Council Libraries and Arts Manager.
Deputy Mayor Janet Holborow presented the awards at the prize-giving ceremony, and noted the amazing support provided to the children by the parents, teachers and schools.
The winning teams were presented with a cup for their school, as well as a medal, a book and vouchers for each competitor.
