Ōtaki Labour candidate Rob McCann has endorsed the new party leadership of Jacinda Ardern and Kelvin Davis.
“Andrew Little did a great job of unifying the party at a crucial time. I believe the course he has taken took courage and shows he is a team player and he puts the party before himself.
“Jacinda will make a superb Prime Minister for New Zealand. Despite being relatively young she has a wealth of political experience and the solid backing of the party.
“Andrew put it well when he said the media’s fixation on polls was diverting attention away from the real issues facing our country. There is a clear housing crisis, education and health systems have had funding slashed and the government has no plan to fix anything.”
Mr McCann says he is very much looking forward to the leaders’ debates between his new party leader and Bill English.
“Our new Labour leadership will be positive and cohesive as we head into this most vital election for the future of New Zealand,” says Mr McCann.
