The question Does society normalise behaviour that encourages male violence? will be put in a film The Mask you Live In to be shown at the Waikanae Baptist Church, 286 Te Moana Road this Wednesday (21 June) at 7.30pm.
The film, by Jennifer Newsom, sees boys and young men talk about their experiences navigating gender stereotypes and identity issues, with evidence from experts on how boys are socialised into behaviour that can contribute to and normalise violence.
The film is followed by a short facilitated discussion on how we can challenge stereotypes and support boys to reach their full potential.
Entry is free.
