If you use the Poplar Avenue interchange, please look out for road closures and detours from 10am next Wednesday 10 May.
NZTA say there will be detours for Poplar Avenue traffic heading both east and west, while the roundabouts are closed so they can get them built safely and more quickly.
“It’s quite a change for a while. Thank you for continuing to be patient. You won’t be able to drive east past Leinster Ave onto the state highway OR west from the old state highway into Poplar Ave.
“To get onto the Expressway from Poplar Ave or to get to Poplar Ave from the old state highway you’ll need to drive through Matai and Raumati Roads.
“You can still get off the Expressway heading north into Poplar Ave (you won’t be able to get onto the old SH1 road here though) but to head south from Poplar Ave you’ll need to allow more time than usual.”
NZTA advise the detour will be day and night. Depending on the weather it’ll be in place for up to two weeks but they will keep updating on any changes.
“There’ll be plenty of signage ahead of the closures so please follow the marked detour routes to help you get to where you need to. Check out our graphics below showing you where the road is closed and where you can drive while these works are happening.”
