District wide Councillor Jackie Elliott has announced she is standing for next Mayor of Kāpiti in the elections later this year.
“My family and I all look forward to a very energetic election and my third term as a representative of the people of Kāpiti,” says Cr Elliott.
“I thank all the public and my valuable mentors for their constant support in what has been a sometimes challenging triennium. Council has often been a table of two halves, but I am proud to be part of a small solid team that represents the ratepayers, not bureaucracy,” says Cr Elliott
“I look forward to introducing badly needed strong leadership at the council table to consolidate our important achievements to date in bringing a fairer, more transparent and fiscally prudent Council to you. My wish is for more likeminded new councillors in the council team.”
Cr Elliott says she is greatly encouraged by the public feedback that with every voting decision, she has kept faithfully every election promise made, and studying to gain certification as a Resource Management Act hearings commissioner.
“Probably the biggest disappointment over the last three years has been the top down culture that has developed at KCDC. The leadership has been poor and this is reflected in a number of bad decisions that have been costly for the people of Kāpiti. We have an opportunity to put that right in October,” says Cr Elliott.
“As a Kāpiti Coaster whose family have been here for 110 years, it is a real honour to take part in the planning processes for Kāpiti, our home. Behind every successful election campaign is a team effort of valuable campaign supporters, and if you would like to be one of those who helps me become Kāpiti’s Mayor for the people, please contact me on [email protected] or on 0210452762.”
