With only one day to go until the Easter break kicks off the MacKays to Peka Peka road building team is sending out the safety message.
“We hope everyone has an enjoyable long Easter weekend and if you’re travelling, please take care and allow plenty of time to get to your destination safely.
“Just a reminder that we’ll have all four lanes open on the Raumati Straights to help traffic flow as smoothly as possible over this busy holiday weekend. Going north two lanes will be open from midday on Thursday, but there will be no lane changing through the work site because of different heights and levels of the seal. So pick a lane, stay in it and merge like a zip at the end.”
The team says after Easter, they will kick into stage four with work on the southbound lanes.
“Because of the nature of the works we’re doing on these lanes, most of the work can be done off peak and at night. This means we’ll have two lanes open south in the morning peak, and then two north in the evening peak, so this should hopefully give some relief for commuters and road users.”
