You are correct that Wellington needs to get used to traffic chaos, but it’s not just in the short term.
As its consultants have told Greater Wellington Regional Council, traffic generated by the completion of the current and proposed road-building projects along State Highway 1 will make traffic congestion much worse not better in many places,including Wellington City.
It will also reduce patronage on the Kāpiti railway line by 25 per cent compared with what it would have been, and reduce choice by making the Capital Connection train even more vulnerable.
If you think congestion in Wellington City is bad now, you ain’t seen nothing compared with the results of what is being planned and constructed, at your expense.
