It has been announced that local Kāpiti publishing house Book Island has been nominated for and international publishing prize.
The fantastic news came in this month from Bologna, Italy – home to the largest children’s book fair in the world.
“We’ve been nominated for the Bologna Award 2016 for Best Children’s Publisher of Oceania. The winners for each continent will be announced at a ceremony during the Fair on April 4th. Keep everything crossed for us,” said publisher Greet Pauwelijn.
“This nomination is a wonderful acknowledgement of what we’ve achieved in the past four years as a small indie publisher. The support we’ve had from everyone here in New Zealand, and also in our other markets overseas, has been overwhelming. Now it’s time for a new adventure.”
Book Island in the UK
Ms Pauwelijn says Book Island is expanding the business offshore.
“We’ll be expanding our publishing business in the UK and moving our headquarters – and the family – to Bristol, one of England’s most bustling and creative cities. However, New Zealand is Book Island’s true home and it will continue to be business as usual here and across the Tasman in Oz.”
