This is a brilliant photo of the Waikanae Cubs and Keas who spent an afternoon picking up rubbish on the beach as part of the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean-up initiative at the end of 2015.
Kiwis produce 30 per cent more waste over the summer holidays, and seaside spots get the worst of it with a 400 per cent increase apparently so if you’re enjoying our lovely beaches these holidays, maybe take a plastic bag with you to stop just some of it becoming part of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch……and to those of you who always do, thank you so much!
Many thanks Destination Waikanae and Peter Bailey
