Acting Mayor Mike Cardiff has thanked the community for their messages of condolence on the death of Kāpiti Mayoress, Vicki Church, nee McCarthy.
Vicki died in Wellington Hospital early this morning (Friday 9th) after a two-year battle with cancer.
“Kāpiti is a close district and we all feel these things. We appreciate that people have taken the time to pass on their messages of sorrow.
“Our thoughts are with Ross and with Vicki’s family. Elected members and Council staff are supporting the Mayor and will continue to support him in the difficult weeks to come.”
Cr Cardiff has taken over as Acting Mayor in the short term.
A funeral service for Vicki will be held at Southwards on Wednesday (14th) at 11am.
