Kāpiti Digital Leadership Forum Incorporated (KDLF) is delighted to announce the opening of online registrations to attend any of the 22 workshops and all for FREE and the response is already overwhelming. Attendance on any workshop is being handled through online registrations as seats are limited. Go to the Eventbrite web site to register.
Tech Expo Kāpiti 2015 will take place 18 to 20 June at Coastlands.
Workshops are targeted at each day’s activities with Ultrafast Broadband (UFB) being the underlying driver of business growth, education and fun. Ann Verboeket, Chair of the KDLF says, “we are particularly pleased to be able to provide a range of products and workshops for both young people and seniors and are expecting that families may get involved in getting online, helping an aged parent demystify their smartphone and getting started on their tablet. It is significant that Consumer NZ are sending their tech editor to talk through the online entertainment landscape for consumers.”
Ann goes on to say, “a unique characteristic of this EXPO will be the involvement of both young people and seniors trained as “Digital Ambassadors” to guide visitors around the Expo”. They will be able to explain the complexities of internet based products and guide visitors to areas of interest. They will help visitors play with TV online, test smart payroll applications take part in a virtual health clinic or just play games running UFB. “Look for them in their bright Orange T-shirts”, Ann says!
This is an exciting concept for us and we expect that this will result in a smart and formidable group of people at opposite ends of the age spectrum involved in helping take Kāpiti forward in a digital era after the Expo. We know that we have fantastic young people who are talented and can rub shoulders with the business, education, and health sectors with ease.
Virtual reality is going to come alive in the workshops and on the Expo floor with Weltec & Whitireia focusing on the latest technology. Digital Ambassadors will assist in directing people to cloud solutions, crowdfunding, digital enablement, web site portals, including the Amazing Travelling Photo Booth and health related technology stands and help demystify what UFB is all about.
Helene Judge, Project Manager for the Expo says, “I am super excited to be involved with this project as everything around us moves so quickly today so to have an opportunity to listen and learn from national and local experts about what it means for Kāpiti to be more digitally connected, to support business growth and to enhance consumer awareness of technologies is ideal timing for Kāpiti.”
