A Kāpiti man is in a critical condition after a ute rolled in southern Wairarapa.
Life Flight crew member Dave Greenberg said the Westpac rescue helicopter went to the crash scene west of the settlement of Ngawi in Cape Palliser Rd about 6.30pm yesterday.
“On our arrival we found a local doctor and the fire brigade attending to three patients who were in a ute which rolled over,” he said.
“Two of the occupants of the ute were ‘walking wounded’ and did not require immediate attention.”
The third, a Kāpiti man in his early 20s, had serious head injuries. He was treated at the scene before being flown to Wellington Hospital.
Greenberg said the two other occupants were treated at the scene by a Wellington Free Ambulance crew that arrived after the helicopter.
Capital and Coast District Health Board senior communications adviser Matt Paterson said the Kāpiti man remained in a critical condition in the intensive care unit this morning.
