We’ve started work on four bored piles at Kāpiti Road these are smaller but similar in construction to the Waikanae River Bridge piles and will form the central piers of the new Expressway bridge.
Traffic on Kāpiti Road has been moved onto a temporary road diversion to keep traffic moving safely past our piling site. Traffic management and footpath diversions continue including a Stop/Go level crossing. This is in place from 9am-4pm with priority given to road users and allows our dumpers to cross the road safely with minimal disruption. For the safety of all road users a 30km/h speed restriction is in place at all times on this new section of road.
Work around Raumati Rd is now underway. You’ll see big changes to the local landscape as we start to clear vegetation and large trees along the Expressway route. Fencing is in place to keep people safe and out of the worksites this means the informal footpaths that have been used in this area will no longer be useable. Please remember worksites are extremely dangerous places. Fences and signs are there for your safety so please respect and observe them. Our team will be at Raumati Beach School Gala on Sat 29th with more information about the work happening in this area so if you have any questions we’d love to see you.
Earthworks and pre-load next to Poplar and Leinster Avenues continue and State Highway 1 still has a 70km/h speed restriction in place for northbound traffic.
