Julie Freeman’s superb painting ‘George’ has won Best in Show at the Paraparaumu Rotary Art Show for 2014.
Hosted at the Southward Car Museum, the Art Show has become a major attraction over the years and a significant fundraiser for the Paraparaumu Rotary Club.
The Paraparaumu Rotary Art Show started in 2003 and is held over Labour Weekend in late October each year. Artists from throughout New Zealand submit paintings in a number of subject categories and sponsored prizes are presented in each class. All works are for sale and the event has become an important item on the local arts and social calendar. Funds raised from sponsors, entry fees and commissions on sales are used to further the development of the Arts on the Kāpiti Coast.
Event organiser Bob Hamilton said over 1000 had turned up to the exhibition and sale this year.
