National’s new funding commitment to Porirua’s Mana Recovery is welcome, but fails to meet the $430,000 funding gap left by the Capital and Coast District Heath Board, says Labour MP for Mana Kris Faafoi.
“While any new funding for worthy non-profit community organisations such as Mana Recovery is welcome, better coordination between the government and the CCDHB would have saved Mana Recovery from significant pain following the DHB’s funding cuts earlier this year”, said Kris Faafoi.
“I’m glad to see National is getting behind Mana Recovery with a one off $150,000 grant, but if National had got their act together earlier Mana Recovery wouldn’t be facing a $430,000 a year shortfall in funding after cuts from the CCDHB”,
“Mana Recovery has done great work in our community, and government funding needs to reflect that. National’s band-aid funding can’t cover $430,000 in cuts”, said Kris Faafoi.
