Peter Foster has joined Labour’s campaign to elect Rob McCann as the next MP for Ōtaki.
Peter is a well known local lawyer who lives in Waikanae Beach. In 2011 he stood for Labour in Ōtaki and despite late selection, gained a very creditable 13,920 votes.
Rob McCann of Otaihanga was selected as the Labour candidate in December last year. He is building his bid for election on the base created by Peter Foster. Since the start of this year Rob McCann has been very active on the campaign trail meeting constituents at public events and in their homes.
Peter was out door knocking in his home patch of Waikanae Beach with Rob and an enthusiastic team of Labour volunteers last Saturday. They received a very good reception from electors . “We are getting a lot of support on the doorstep this time around. Last election the phone was off the hook and people weren’t ready for a change. This election, the people of Kāpiti and Horowhenua are looking for both a change of MP and a change of government,” Rob McCann reported. “And the only way to change the government is to party vote Labour,” Rob added.
Peter Foster endorsed Rob McCann saying, “Rob is an excellent candidate. Being out on the hustings with Rob, I’ve seen a young man who is ready and willing to put in the work required as an electorate MP. I’m proud to support Rob as the next member of Parliament for the Ōtaki electorate. We need a community minded MP and I’m certain that Rob McCann will be that person.”
Rob McCann welcomed Peter Foster’s endorsement and active support saying, “I’m humbled to be supported by Peter. His advice and knowledge has been really helpful in building the campaign to win back Ōtaki and give the electorate an MP that lives and is connected to the community.”
