Described by the judges in the Electra Business Awards as having “smart management, good systems and a focus on moving forward with a positive culture and well trained staff,” HMC Kāpiti, is a company on the move.
Join us to hear from Kelly McKay about what it was that made HMC Kāpiti worthy of the Highly Commended award, and what’s in store for her and the team in 2014.
Kelly McKay is the Dealer Principal of HMC Kāpiti Holden Kia and Suzuki Dealership, a family owned and operated business.
Having taken on the role of running the Kāpiti dealership five years ago at the age of 22, Kelly looks after business and strategic planning and forecasting, vehicle sales, staff and departmental management, and general financial management duties.
Since taking over the dealership from Williams and Adams which was in Liquidation, HMC Kāpiti made a successful bid for the Kia franchise, won the MTA Franchise Dealership of the year and Highly Commended award for the Electra business awards. Last year HMC Kāpiti gained the highest market share for Suzuki out of all Suzuki dealers and achieved the highest growth for Kia sales in 2012.
HMC Kāpiti is the sister branch to Horowhenua Motor company which has roots in Levin dating back to 1948. Being a family business Kelly has been in and around the dealership since being knee high and is certainly a local business leader to watch into the future.
