Ōtaki MP Nathan Guy has officially opened the Charles Fleming Retirement Village in Waikanae today.
“This is Ryman Healthcare’s 26th retirement village, and is a $100 million dollar investment into the local community,” says Mr Guy.
“On top of the major opportunities the construction process has created for local trades people and suppliers, the village now offers local residents high quality care in a very modern environment.
“The Kāpiti region is already a very popular place to retire and this will add to the appeal.”
The retirement village is named after Sir Charles Fleming, a renowned New Zealand ornithologist and environmentalist, and Trustee to the Nga Manu reserve in Waikanae.
“Sir Charles is a local icon who made a major contribution to the Kāpiti community and the nation.
“This is a fantastic new facility which will be very fitting to his memory,” says Mr Guy.
