Ōtaki Ward candidate Colin Pearce is local to the core.
” Ōtaki is my home and the home of four generations of my family.
I know its cultural diversity. I have tramped its geographical resources from hills to sea, but its strength is in it’s people.
“Time and time again, I am told of the disconnect between the decision-making Council and our community. Without an inclusive approach we will limit our ability to meet the challenges, a changing Ōtaki will face.”
Mr Pearce says the Ōtaki community must drive these changes, together with Council. He says there needs to be a consultation process that gives expression to Ōtaki’s will.
“Rates must be held to the cost of living index, allowing fixed incomers to pace themselves through life, once their salaries cease.
“Future generations need a safe and accessible expressway, connecting to employment, study and recreation, bringing opportunities and real benefits to Ōtaki’s future.”
Mr Pearce says he stands for people before politicians and bureaucrats.
