Ōtaki MP Nathan Guy has welcomed the news that $595,744 has been allocated to Te Horo School to increase non-classroom facilities as part of the School Property Guide Programme.
“I’m delighted that Te Horo School will have access to extra funding for multi-purpose spaces. This will be a fantastic boost towards supporting modern learning at the school,” says Mr Guy.
“This investment is part of the School Property Guide Programme, designed to ensure schools have better facilities to match their growth. It recognises the importance of non-classroom areas in schools, which support the community aspect of a school.
“With their role doubling, Te Horo School has grown rapidly over the past few years. The Board of Trustees can now decide to build new facilities which will match their on-going needs. This is great news for all the students and staff, and the wider Te Horo community,” says Mr Guy.
The School Property Guide Programme has funded approximately 500 schools in the past 13 years.
The funding is additional to the school’s Five Year Agreement allocation, which is used to modernise and upgrade existing buildings. New classrooms and gymnasium spaces are funded through a separate programme to match school roll-growth.
Mr Guy understands that the school had also received funding for an extra classroom just last month.
