Ōtaki Community Board member Jackie Elliott has announced her candidacy for the Electra Trust.
Ms Elliott said there had been a long-standing family connection going back to the HEPB days.
“I stand for the Electra Trust, following my Grandfather and Father, both past H.E.P.B. members from the family business; E.C. Buckley Electrical Contractors.
“I am dedicated to the long term protection of annual discounts and appreciate their importance to all of our household budgets.”
Ms Elliott says the Electra Trust must be managed so consumers get maximum benefit from projected national electricity supply price decreases.
“I see a key role as representing the electricity consumers of Horowhenua and Kāpiti to maintain public ownership of our assets and to ensure profits are redistributed to consumers by way of annual discounts.”
