Wellington writers have until Sunday 31 March to enter their unpublished work into the 2013 Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Unpublished Manuscript Award – one of the largest prizes awarded for literature in New Zealand.
The Award recognises writing talent in the mind, body, spirit genre.
The Ashton Wyle Charitable Trust, in association with the New Zealand Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc.), will present a single award of $10,000 to the winner whose work demonstrates excellence and understanding of the mind, body, spirit category.
Adonia Wylie, spokesperson for the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust and member of the judging panel, is encouraging all Wellington writers with a passion for the mind, body, spirit genre to enter their work.
“The Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Unpublished Manuscript Award is a great opportunity for both developed and up-and-coming writers to showcase their unpublished writing and gain national recognition for their work,” says Ms Wylie.
“We are encouraging all Wellington writers whose work encompasses the mind, body, spirit theme to enter.”
To be eligible for the awards, writers must be New Zealand citizens residing in the country. Each manuscript must also be between 20,000 and 100,000 words in length.
In addition to the unpublished manuscript award category, the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust and New Zealand Society of Authors are also presenting an award for a published book. Entries are open for this award until Friday 31 May 2013.
Both awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust’s own venue, Hopetoun Alpha in Auckland on Friday 16 August.
