Ōtaki Community Board member Jackie Elliott says she is delighted with the Kiwirail decision to retain the Capital Connection service that provides such an importand transport link for Ōtaki.
“I agree it is very good news that the Capital Connection has won a reprieve, but as this is for two years only it becomes vital to establish the connection’s long term future, hopefully up to the point of electrification of the commuter rail to Ōtaki,” says Ms Elliott.
“We have a lot of people to thank for achieving this outcome. Both the Greater Wellington Regional Council and Horizons have been very supportive but a real driving force in saving the service has been Palmerson North MP Iain Lees-Galloway who has been brilliant throughout the whole process.
