KCDC CEO Pat Dougherty states in the article ‘Kāpiti Erosion: Head to head’ “The council has worked very hard to engage the community in what is an unsettling debate for everyone.” The ratepayers of the Kāpiti Coast have become all too familiar with Mr Dougherty’s contemptuous attitude towards them. Of the more than 700 who have joined Coastal Ratepayers United, not one has been consulted on the issue of coastal erosion since 2008. I have lived here for 17 years and have not been ‘consulted’ since 2005. Democracy is NOT alive and well on the Kāpiti Coast. But not for much longer…
